Luke wrote Acts as a continuation of his gospel. In this book Luke recorded the growth of the early church after Jesus ascended to heaven. The first part of the book records the growth of the church in and around Jerusalem. Luke goes on to record the apostle Paul’s conversion and the spread of the gospel throughout the Roman world.

He went to the high priest 2and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. “The Way” was another designation for believers. It reminds us that Jesus is the Way to the Father (John 14:6) and that the Christian life is a special way of life. Saul
